Elena and Adesco's story featured in WARMBLOODS Today

For dressage trainer Elena Golubitsky the last twenty years have brought her challenges she never imagined. They have also brought her personal happiness and professional success. Once a highly accomplished young rider in the Soviet republic of Belarus, launching her new life in America meant confronting emotional and physical obstacles.

As she returns to the Grand Prix arena, she reflects on her odyssey—and on the very special horse on which she has focused her competitive dreams. Elena had to restart her career in order to find her way back to the Grand Prix, two decades after her successful first career.

When it comes to training dressage horses, Elena says in her eastern European accent, “I love the stallions—there’s something about the boys.” With her stallion Adesco C, the “boy” she’s had for seven years, they’ve formed a winning partnership. This pair may be unknown and a bit unlikely—he’s a jumper-bred Holsteiner and she’s an owner-rider trained in Russia…

February/March 2012
Wellington Florida
This year 1st time my student and my best friend Barbara Grove and I went to train and show in Wellington Florida . We drove our truck and trailer with hay and equipment and shiped Adesco and Tacoma in box stalls with professional horse transport  !!! Horses arrived to White Fences in very good condition . This year being an Olympic year was very exiting for me to traing and show in Florida with the best riders in the world. I trained with Lars Petersen for 2month.  Lars helped me to develop wold class passage and piaffe!!! He also helped me to put all the elements of Grand Prix together. Adesco and I rode our 1st Grand Prix on March 3rd, and I am so proud of him he was only 9 years old. We had very good marks 8 and 9s for our passage-piaffe tour. Adesco was a "super star " in Florida. Now that we are home in Cleveland we have some home work to do. We have 2month to get ready for USEF DEVELOPING HORSE GRAND PRIX DRESSAGE CHAMPIONSHIP.  I would like to say thank you to all my supporters and sponsors, and specially to my husband Leo who stayed back in Cleveland along with 2 our boys for 2 month,  while I was in Florida training and competing.

October 15-16, 2011

Clinic with Linda Zang at Gypsy Woods Farm, Richwood, OH

Elena rode Adesco in a clinic at Gypsy Woods Farm, with highly respected "O" Judge, Linda Zang. Linda judges international competitions and referred to Steffen Peters as the measure of performance for our international team. Several times throughout the weekend Linda referred to Adesco's athleticism and international abilities and the importance of selecting the best source of coaching for the pair. Although Elena and Adesco worked on their training, the biggest theme was about how to achieve the 9 or 10 on gaits. The clinic attendees enjoyed arelaxing dinner and personal conversation with Linda on Saturday night, which provided additional inspiration to all.

Three week training with Lars Petersen at Wellington, FL

In the Spring of 2011, Elena and her student Barbara, traveled with their horses on a 24-hour trip to Wellington, Florida to study 3 weeks with "World Class" rider/trainer Lars Petersen at his property, Legacy Farms. Every person at his farm was friendly and had new information to share with us. We learned tips about horses from shipping/overnighting horses, shipping by air, feed tips, exercise tips, to training plans for developing the horse to Grand Prix. All that was in addition to the excellent lessons with great insights on how to develop the horses strength performing GP movements through developing the hind-end strength and quickness required for Grand Prix to get a  mark of 10 at the International Competitions. Melissa Taylor, his professional and accomplished Grand Prix partner, also assisted in our training. Melissa organizes the business and runs the schedule for Lars and herself; she was extremely friendly, upbeat and helpful. In the end it was rewarding to hear from Lars that both horses have "international potential"!

Edward Gal Clinic

Edward Gal is a Dutch dressage rider. He and his most recent mount, the stallion Moorlands Totilas (nicknamed "Toto"), were triple gold medalists at the 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games, becoming the first horse-rider partnership ever to sweep the three available dressage gold medals at a single FEI World Games. Going into the 2010 Games, they had amassed multiple world-record scores in international competition, leading one American journalist to call them "rock stars in the horse world".

Christoph Hess Clinic

Christoph Hess is an FEI "I" Judge in both Dressage and Eventing, and the German National Federation (the DOKR, which is the equivalent to our USEF), awarded him the title of Professional Riding Instructor, a title that labels him as an international expert and educator of professionals. Hess currently holds the positions of Head of Instruction and Head of the Personal Members Department at the DOKR, where he's been employed since 1978.

Olympic Dreams For Dressage Horse Originally Bred To Jump

It was in Red Deer where Elena Golubitsky first saw Adesco C in October of 2005. She knew she wanted to ride him and after only one pre-purchase ride, knew she had to buy him. There was only one problem: Adesco was bred to jump and Elena is an international FEI dressage competitor...
